Sales of Windows 8 smartphones
have been impressive ever since
the operating system was
launched at the tail end of last
year. The popularity of the
platform has been boosted by a
strong portfolio of models that
includes the excellent Nokia
Lumia 920 and the HTC 8X.
Latest news has confirmed that
devices running this operating
system will have access to new
updates of the OS when they are
rolled out unlike handsets
running earlier versions of
Microsoft’s platform.
Windows 8 has enjoyed a great
early start to life and the
operating system is already
proving more popular than
Windows 7. Part of the issue
with the older version was that
devices running it could not
update to new versions of the
software, a problem that does not
look likely to hamper newer
models like the Nokia Lumia 920.
Last year Window 8 was released
with a blaze of publicity but
consumers running Windows 7
devices were stuck with the older
platform and the only way they
could take advantage of version 8
would be to upgrade to a newer
model like the Lumia 920. It has
now been confirmed that
handsets running version 8 will
be able to take advantage of new
version of the software as they
are released. Greg Sullivan, a
senior marketing director at
Microsoft confirmed this news
which is sure to delight the
millions of consumers who are
currently enjoying everything
that Windows 8 has to offer.
