LG Intros Optimus UI 3.0 Skin for Android Phones

LG has released more details about the Optimus UI 3.0 for its Android 4.0 Ice Cream
Sandwich smartphones that we first laid eyes on back at Mobile World Congress in
February of this year. The new interface is an evolution of LG's earlier UI, and is
supposed to make using a smartphone more convenient than ever.

LG says that Optimus UI 3.0 offers new features like the ability to unlock the phone
from dragging anywhere on the screen, a Pattern Lock that can be configured to
launch commonly used functions, improved organization of important apps, Voice
Shutter to snap pictures with voice commands, a best shot mode in the camera (not
unlike what Sense and TouchWiz offer), customizable icons, and a dedicated
Download category to the main app tray.

LG will use the new UI on the Optimus 4X HD and the Optimus LTE II, both of which
are expected to launch in Korea soon. When we got hands on with the Optimus 4X
HD at MWC, we were impressed with the speed and fluidity of LG's new UI, and felt that it was greatly improved over its earlier iterations.
